Kirill the I

The King of The Kingdom of Torgu

In Estonia, specifically on the island of Saaremaa, the Torgu Kingdom was declared on August 18, 1992, following the administrative reform law enacted by the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Estonia on July 30, 1992. According to this law, the region encompassing the former Jämaja parish and Torgu municipality was no longer considered part of the de jure administrative territory of the Republic of Estonia.

It brought me great joy to create an oil painting for the Torgu Kingdom, which we presented as a gift to commemorate the Kingdom's 25th anniversary. This holds special significance for me as I originate from Torgu. The reproduction of the painting can be closely examined at the visitor center located on the Sõrve Peninsula. While the public display of the original painting will take some time, it won't be long before it can be admired in person.

I was awarded the Kingdom's Order as a donation in recognition of the painting of the king.

Therefore, my painting not only marks a significant milestone for the kingdom but also symbolizes my profound connection to this wonderful community.

More detailed information about the Torgu Kingdom can be found on their official website, where it is explained that it is an imaginary micro-state located in the southwestern part of the Republic of Estonia, in Sörvemaa, at the southern tip of the Sõrve Peninsula, colloquially known as Taga-Sõrve. The central hub of the kingdom is situated in the village of Iide.
