My very first art studio

For a long time, I dreamed of having my very own studio, a space where I could paint with complete freedom without the worry of accidentally splashing or ruining something. Quite often, I managed to inadvertently drip paint on the floor, wall, or even a piece of furniture. The kids, in their earnestness, also contributed significantly to this creative chaos. They would come, place their little hands on my palette filled with an abundance of colors, and then joyfully run around the room, attempting to leave artistic marks on the walls, furniture, and, of course, relishing the sight of vibrant hues on their own bodies and clothes. So, there was plenty of lively commotion.

Here is my dear son Hugo creating art very passionately.

I had a small corner at home dedicated to painting, where I could fit all the necessary art supplies.

It was a tight space, but we managed.

Finally, the opportunity arose to build my very own studio space in a building formerly known as a computing station, located in Kuressaare.

Constructing the studio wasn't too challenging, more of a "room refinement," if you will. All that was needed was to patch and paint the walls, remove the old floor, sand and varnish the new one, engage in a thorough cleaning, and then, of course, furnish the space to create a cozy haven for artistic expression.

The coolest thing about the new space for me was that a section with windows was separated from one of the rooms, and it became the place where I started painting.

The second-best thing about the space was the large windows, spanning the entire length of one wall.

As I've always been fond of deep blue color, it was a given that the painting room's wall had to be in that shade! It's, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful tones. The rest of the studio got white walls.

Once the room was ready, the idea of opening a small art supplies store and giving painting lessons immediately came to mind. However, to make all this happen, we had to tackle the building’s corridor as well. It had such an old and worn-out vibe with its yellowed walls and an unsightly dark carpet covered in stains. There was hardly any light there. With the necessary permissions obtained, we began repairing the corridor walls, painting them, and installing a new carpet. The result turned out to be very bright and beautiful!

Like with children, I also enjoy carelessly splattering paint with abandon.

I also really enjoyed creating window displays, so I decided to experiment a bit with the available materials. I made a small "fairytale" for Valentine's Day and winter on the window.
